Pair of 4 Light Silver Candelabra, unknown hallmark.

Post by AUhills »

Hello, I'm trying to figure out who these were made by and when they were made. They measure 10 1/4 inches tall and have a 9 inch spread. Very heavy for their size each one weighs 3lb. 15oz. (126 ounces total for the pair). They look like coin silver and are marked 800, notice the close up of the hallmark on each piece. On one the hallmark is dinged on the at the top and on the other it is rubbed off at the bottom but inbetween the two you get the full image. It appears to be a crowned "P". I've seen a lot of Georgian and Victorian Period candelabra mostly by London silversmiths though and not anything quite like this so I am having trouble figuring these out. To me it looks like 17th century design like the old catholic church used to have but I've never seen any from that period made out of solid silver so maybe 19th century with 17th century influences? Any help identifying the hallmark would be greatly appreciated!
