Alanson Bigelow of Boston, Mass., son of Luke and Asenath (Winship) Bigelow, was born in Westminster, Mass., May 20, 1809, and he early went to Boston and engaged with his brothers in mercantile life, and formed the firm of Bigelow Brothers, importers and dealers. He married in Cambridge, Nov. 1, 1835, Anne Rebecca Bangs, daughter of Isaiah and Deborah (Bigelow) Bangs; born in Montreal, Nov. 3, 1816; died in Cambridge, May 24, 1861. He married second, Nov. 18, 1863, Mary J. Hudson, widow of Oliver Hudson, and daughter of Horatio G. and Kezia E. (Goodnow) Ware. He died in Boston, Feb. 29, 1884. Their children were:

Ellen Ann, b. Sept. 27, 1840; m. June 19, 1860, Amory Houghton, Jr.. son of Amory and Sophronia Houghton.
Lucy E., b. April 4, 1846.
Edward H., b. Sept. 4, 1847; d. Aug. 9, 1849.
Florence В., b. 1850; d. Dec. 8, 1853.
