Jury Finds for Plaintiff in Action Growing Out of Accident Which Killed Bridgeport Silversmith

Bridgeport, Conn. June 12. A verdict of$10,000 the largest recorded in recent years in an accident case in this county, was given to Frank Weidlich of this city recently in the Superior court in the suit Mr. Weidlich brought against the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad Co., as administrator of the estate of his brother, Ernest C.Weidlich, an officer in the Weidlich Bros. Mfg. Co. The amount asked for in the suit was $10,000, and the jury was out only one hour before bringing in a verdict for the full amount. The claim for damages was made to recover for the late Ernest C. Weidlich’s death which occurred last January at the North Ave.crossing of the Berkshire division. He was riding in an automobile which his brother Frederick was driving. Both were killed. It was claimed the gate man at the crossing did not lower the gates in time to prevent the machine from getting on the tracks.

Sample H.H. pie server manufactured by WEB after aquiring the Weidlich tooling. Handle (mark WEB Sterling Handle) continues the Weidlich Old English pattern and blade with serrated cutting edge is marked Stainless Steel Sheffield England. It is not known if WEB also made one of their long blade cake knives with this pattern to complement the line, although they appear to have made a simplified H.H. blunt-end. Engraved fancy "H".
