Augsburg silver filigree traveling set

Post by legrandmogol »

Hi, I was lucky enough to acquire this silver filigree traveling set that is set with Bohemian garnets. The Spoon is hallmarked with an Augsburg Hallmark and what looks like the markers mark BS. I cannot find anything in my limited resources on this marker. I believe the set dates anywhere from 1680 - 1730. If anyone can shed light on the matter I would be grateful. Also, is there a way to date items based on the Augsburg city mark itself?

Did the Johann Balthasar Sedletzky use a mark with only a BS? Please forgive my pictures, there is definitely only 2 letters in an oval though.
