Help in identifying marks on golden vesta case

Post by doesie2 »

I found a golden vesta case witch is, as i suppose, hallmarked in Birmingham 1903. The left side letter in the makers mark could be a "W", but not sure. It's not possible to identiy the right side letter. What could be the meaning of the second mark if the case is made from 9 carat gold?

Thank you!

The basic mark seems to be a 9-carat gold hallmark from Birmingham with the date letter "d" for 1903 as you have worked out. The maker's mark on the left is probably a worn-down mark of Horace Woodward & Co:

The mark with what appear to be cyrillic characters defeats me. No doubt somebody will help out.

Hi,
There should be digit 9 on the left of .375.
K14 is wrong, most probably added later to deceive.
