Montreal Fire Causes Panic
Montreal. December 16. Fire did actual damage estimated at $30,000 to the Birks building, though the loss to the firms located therein will likely greatly exceed this amount. The principal sufferers are Henry Birks & Sons, Limited, jewelers, and William Notman & Son, photographers. A panic among the shoppers followed the breaking out of the fire, but no one was seriously hurt.
