Help Please Identifying Unusual Gorham Bowl

Post by EJINPA »

Howdy, I understand the date code on this piece, but am at a terrible loss as to what to call the pattern. It appears to be an early Martele piece but the date pre-dates that line considerably. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I need to research this piece to understand what I have exactly. Thanks for your help, E.

Hi ~ welcome to the forums.

Nothing to do with Martelé (as a note, Martelé was .950 fineness).

It is a fairly rare hand-crafted piece associated with Gorham's very uncommon 1880s 'Hamburg' flatware pattern - it is a really, really nice item...
