Regarding Queen Adelaide:

Kirby, Beard, and Kirby, Cannon-street, City, her Majesty's Pin and Needle Manufacturers, displayed a most brilliant illumination in honour of the day, which consisted of her Majesty's initials in a splendid shield, surmounted with a Royal diadem, and a profusion of wreaths, stars, &c.

DEATHS

KING. - On the 18th inst., after a very short illness, Peter King, for nearly thirty years a faithful servant of Messrs. Kirby, Beard, and Co.; respected by all who knew him.

......But not before I mention a discovery a friend of mine has just told me about who runs Kirby Beards, if you know Paris, you may remember that very swell shop in the Rue Scribe, just opposite the American Express. He has brought back from Germany some little contraptions which they call "scent-o-laters," which are elaborate and beautiful paste clips and two-piece brooches, fitted with an inner phial, in which you put your favourite perfume which evaporates, at just the right degree of strength, for about a fortnight!
