J.O. & W. Pitkin coin silver spoon

I just purchased this spoon. It's marked J.O. & W. Pitkin. I believe the mark refers to John Owen Pitkin and Walter M. Pitkin, based on the following:

This would put the date around 1830-1840.

Just a couple of questions:

• Is this solid coin silver?
• Does the attribution seem correct?

Yes and yes. They also produced wholesale goods for scores of retailers as far west as Indiana. Pieces would sometimes be marked as yours, but more often [star] [eagle] [P] (in no particular order), then countermarked by the seller.
