Today I saw this magnificent toiletry box with the Nicols & Plinke seller's mark.

But what does that mark MAG: / ANG: mean??

Nice box but.... Nicolls & Plincke was founded in St. Petersburg in 1829. The assayer АЯ is Aleksandr Jashinkov/Jashinov. He assayed in StP ~1795-1826. He was a dubious person... The MAG ANG is supposed to mean Magasin Anglais, a big department store in StP. NP used a MAG ANG punch, but this looks odd have a suspicious mind....
