Hi, new to the forum, apologies if i made some mistakes in my first post, constructive criticism is appreciated.
In my internship, i'm doing research about a 1951 donation made to the city i work for. Part of the donation is silverware and most of these were manufactured by Spaulding and Co. The silverware must've been purchased between 1884 and 1914.
I've gotten much info about the meaning of hallmarks and Spaulding & Co., partly from this forum, but would like to ask about a small hallmark on these items that i haven't seen discussed yet.

I mean the "H" on this soup spoon without any diamond or form around it. It cant also be a "H"- for heavy, or an "H", required to be struck on Sterling silver supplied under US government contracts, as some other silverware (from the same collection) has the letter "L" or a weird "U" in that place. This forum has already helped me greatly and i'd really appreciate if somebody had an answer for this. I was thinking about date lettering, but have found no applicable dating system. Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi,
Spaulding & Co. were the retailer only. The maker was Gorham and the pattern Imperial Chrysanthemum.

Hi,
thanks a lot for the help! I was under the impression from some post that Spaulding & Co. shared some hallmarks with Gorham, so, if you dont mind, how could you tell (except from the pattern, thanks a lot for that too) that it wasn't manufactured by Spaulding & Co.?
