Hi, I bought this nice silver tray from the 18th century as far as I know. There stood in the description that it could be Delft. If I look to Delft than there were two silversmiths with IT. Johannes van Tonningen (1715-1766) and Johannes Tiddens (1718-1739). Could this be correct? Yearletter H from: 1737 or 1761?
Would be nice if somebody could confirm it or put me on another path...
Thanks in advance!
18th Century tray, Delft?
Re: 18th Century tray, Delft?
Zilveren cabaret/Silver tray.
Town mark of Delft, circa 1736. With associated lion rampant (1736), the 1st standard mark province Holland silver 935/000, year letter crowned H for 1737.
IT in a rectangle with slanted corners for; Johannes Titdens.
Date of baptism unknown, probably born in The Hague. On 19-11-1739 Johannes Titdens was buried in the Nieuwe Kerk, living next to the Town Hall on the south side, no children, church grave. Between 1718 and 1721 Johannes Titdens became master of the Delft gold and silver guild.
The maker's mark of Johan(nis) van Tonningen; IT in contoured shield; V.T in rectangle.
Could you be so kind to give sizes and the weight of the tray?
Peter.
