Beautiful 18th century gold buckle ring.
A ring of high quality gold, decorated with flowers, diamonds and a filigree clasp. Town mark of Amsterdam, bar with three Saint Andrew's Crosses under crown. Far right, provincial standard mark of Holland, the lion rampant under crown for so called fine-gold; 23 karaat 8 grein or 985/000.
The maker's mark E.S for Egidius Stagman, registered as a goldsmith in Amsterdam 1740-1785. Born in 1727, his father Jeremias was also a goldsmith and Egidius worked under his father as an apprentice. Egidius made small gold works like gold wirework rings and chains. He died in 1785.
