unknown mark on coffee pot

Post by rbwaide »

I have a vintage coffee pot from the Bedford Hotel in Evian, France. I can't find any record of the mark on the bottom, and I am unsure what the embossed numbers signify. Any help in interpreting these symbols would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

To understand the '18' see: https://www.925-1000.com/a_platenumbers.html

Renaud & J. Clermont of Geneva were the makers, the ship device is their trade mark.

Thank you. To be clear, the piece I have is silver plated using 18 g of silver. The "4" may have something to do with the process?
