Joseph Friedman Metal Ware, Inc., has moved its business from 79 Crosby St., this city, to a specially constructed factory building at 1226 Flushing Ave., Brooklyn. The new building is a four-story structure with a floor space of 72,000 square feet. The various floors are divided into departments and on the fourth floor, the concern will manufacture hollow silverware.

Word was received in this city last week that Joseph A. Gorman, salesman for the Friedman Silver Co., 366 Fifth Ave., passed away in Allentown, Pa. Mr. Gorman had been with the Friedman concern since Jan. 1, and previous to that was connected with other silver houses in the industry.

Gorham buys Friedman, Silverplate maker

Gorham Mfg. Co., Providence, R. I, has bought the 52-year-old Friedman Silver Co., Inc., of Brooklyn, N. Y. Gorham plans to move the Friedman operation to Providence during the summer.

This marks Gorham’s third corporate acquisition this year. Other firms taken into the Gorham combine in 1960 are Rabun Bronze Foundry, Inc., Los Angeles, and Pickard & Burns, Inc., Needham, Mass.

Friedman makes silverplated hollowware.

Miss Joan Lawrence, advertising manager of Friedman Silver Co. and Revere Silversmiths, was married September 25th to Robert Lowell Moore, Jr., in New York City. Mrs. Moore is an active member of the Advertising Women of New York, and a member of the Publicity Club of New York, and the Industrial Designers Institute. Mr. Moore is presently engaged in the television industry.

J. Friedman of the Friedman Silver Co., Inc.; I. Mershon of the Globe Silver Co., Inc.; and J. C. Scharling of Scharling & Co., Inc., are members of the governing board of the National Association of Metal Picture Frame Manufacturers recently organized to prepare a code under NRA. The following officers were elected: John W. Robertson, Robertson Metal Arts, Inc., president; B. Rinkle, L. H. Cohen & Co., Inc., vice-president-treasurer, and J. J. Kelleher, secretary.
