Silver miniature skimmer, Amsterdam

Post by Vantlicht »

This silver skimmer has in the past a restauration so the makers mark is hardly recognizable. However it looks like IP.
The citymark looks with an R? I need a second pair of eyes to be sure about this one....

Yes, I believe you are right Amsterdam, year letter R likely for 1751. I don't recognize any master mark.

A schuimspaan or skimmer is a kitchen utensil with a flat, sieve-like surface used to skim foam, impurities, or solids from liquids. Think of skimming foam from stock or removing fried food from hot oil. It is a useful tool to prevent unwanted particles from ending up in your food or to fry safely.
