Thanks for your thoughts and I suppose all could be considered,
However, again to small for a letter opener, the tooth pick option I had thought about and I see someone has been calling it that but in my opinion it would most probably cause cuts etc , and no way would I be putting this in my mouth with a blade point as well as the blade edge.
Cigar cutter, sounds plausible.
I have been cogitation over it and my thoughts are it may well be a carpenters knife for sharpening a carpenters pencil, similar cases housed wooden pencils so maybe a carpenter would have one for the pencil and one for sharpening the pencil?
I wouldn't even think for a moment of cleaning my teeth with a steel blade, but frankly, it seems difficult to me to imagine a carpenter sharpening a pencil with such a precious little object.
This knife doesn’t look like something I would imagine using as a toothpick either, but by the same token, what metals are used to make dentist’s implements?
::::: It still seems like something designed to be carried in a woman's purse, so could it be a knife designed for the sharpening of eyeliner pencils? :::::: I'm just wondering how sharp the blade is because I can't tell from the pics. ::::::::: It seems to have a dull point, however, that seems to be evident in the pics. :::::::::::::::
