DAPG by Kallmeyer & Harjes “3”

Post by Traintime »

Was going nutz trying to read the logo, but finally cracked it. There may be some over stamping so it seems to read “DEUTSSH-AMERIK. P TROL. GES.” for the German American Petroleum Company, known as DAPG. Notice the Hausflaggen of an “R” inside the three color bars oriented vertically. Began life as the Riedemann ships carrying oil in barrels. Then they develop bulk tankers while still using sails & masts. Later, Rockefeller joins in leading it all to becoming ESSO tankers. It appears to be 3 grams of silver used to plate over a base metal of (?). Anyone think they might be able to put an era on this?
