Was going nutz trying to read the logo, but finally cracked it. There may be some over stamping so it seems to read “DEUTSSH-AMERIK. P TROL. GES.” for the German American Petroleum Company, known as DAPG. Notice the Hausflaggen of an “R” inside the three color bars oriented vertically. Began life as the Riedemann ships carrying oil in barrels. Then they develop bulk tankers while still using sails & masts. Later, Rockefeller joins in leading it all to becoming ESSO tankers. It appears to be 3 grams of silver used to plate over a base metal of (?). Anyone think they might be able to put an era on this?
Hello, was able to check some Kallmeyer catalogues from the 1920ies. This object is not (yet ?) in there. Just a gut feeling, but by looking at the modernistic script of the mark I would date this to the 1930ies, give or take. Regards Bahner
