Can anyone assist with this Mote spoon.
Lion passant and a mark which appears to be a crown over the letter X.
Prior to 1701 Exeter used a similar mark but always appeared to be with a circular punch, another one we found was John Pike SNR of Plymouth who also has a crown over X but not identical to this, his date was down as late 17th century which would tie in with this spoon as would the Exeter marks.
Is it possible that this could be a mark not documented by Jackson's but may be in another book that is more specialised?
It measures 137mm in length (13.7cm)
Any help with this one would be appreciated.
Regards,
Colin
