A "GRIM" Hallmark on a coin silver tablespoon?

Post by NotMyEbayName »

Got another hallmark I can't find anything about. The item is a fiddle pattern tablespoon, about 8.5" long. With the bowl visibly lopsided from extended use, the spoon is clearly extremely old.

It's stamped with "COIN", followed by the maker's mark, which looks like "GRIM". Just in time for Halloween, lol.

Thomas Edgar Grim is listed as a silversmith in the 1880 Winchester VA census. His older brother George William is listed as a jeweler there in both the 1870 and 1880 census.

Thank you both for the information! With how unusual the last name is, I'm sure it was either Thomas or George then.
