How to reglue a silver collar onto glass / crystal

Post by perplexed »

Hi .. I have a silver collar on an antique vase which has loosened and come off. I would like to reglue and maintain the same type of white powder look that was used originally? Any suggestions?

Thanks, Perplexed.

Hi,
I've never had the stuff analyzed, so can't be 100% sure, but I believe the white stuff is plaster of Paris and have successfully refitted glass and silver pieces using it.

Regards, Tom

Tom, thanks.

Did you add glue to the plaster of paris or just make up as usual with water?

Cheers, Perplexed.

No, no glue, just the plaster.

Hi .. thanks for that. Will try straight plaster of Paris and let you know how I get on.
