German .800 Swan Salt?

Post by Guntherhess »

Hello,
This is a great web site. I use it all the time but have never posted in the forum. Thanks for hosting it.

This item is a silver open salt. Its from my mother's old salt collection.
I think it is German but I cant seem to identify the marks.

It has what looks like a reclining lion, a 'B', another symbol, then 800.
At the top it looks like it may be marked Germany but the mark is mostly one.

Thanks for any help.

Hello, as to the lion - see here (second mark):

http://www.925-1000.com/Fgerman_marks_a1884.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

under Breidenstein & Renaud for a possible match. Best wishes, Bahner
