I took a look at the Russian Hallmarks page, especially the Russian Assay Marks. I noticed that there are quite a lot of assayers marked as unknown. I have a suggestion to some complements.
However, while examining the assay marks, one should keep in mind that some assay masters registered to a certain city in particular St Petersburg and Moscow could also be head workmasters of the district. This explains why their marks can be found in connection with other city marks in the Russian Empire. Some times they were sent to such districts where there were no assay masters or they didn’t manage to cope with the work.
Another fact to keep in mind is that the years when they acted as assayers might vary, depending on what source they come from.
AA/1888, Vilnius. I assume that this mark could alternatively be Anton Antonovich Atvinovsky’s mark.
AA/1889, Moscow. This is most likely Anatoly Apollonovich Artsybashev
AB 1895, Minsk. Possibly Alexander Kazmirovich Vyrzhikovsky, head workmaster of the district.
AK 1894, Vilnius. Alexander Nikolaievich Krollau
ÐФ 1886 , St: Petersburg. Alexander Franz. Fan-der-Flit 1882-1894
BC 1873, 1884. In an earlier thread I stated that one should be very careful with this mark. Put a big question mark here. BC could be one of these assayers.
Viktor Savinsky 1859-1894
Veniamin Savinsky 1862-1875
Vladimir Smirnoff 1878
There are some serious doubts about the whole existence of any assay master by the name of Viktor Savinkov.
ДТ 1849 StP. I minor typo, he is Dimitry Ilyich Tverskoi 1834-1851
ИЕ 1873 StP. He is Ivan Vonif. Yestigneev 1874, 1876-1882, 1885, 1889-1894
ÐШ Jelgava. Could it be Nikolai Ivanovich Schoulz from Tula?
CO 1894, Kiev. He is Stakhy Kondratievich Orlov 1894-1896
Please note that the above mentioned is only my suggestions to amendments and/or specifications.
