Let me know please when this miniature was made.

Post by Elena Russ »

Hello, dear sirs.

Let me know please when this miniature was made. I see the difference in stamps.
The sword with standard numeral used sins 1953 year. Perhaps could Amsterdam town mark like three crosses be used in this time?
Thank you.

Hi,

Pseudo Adreas crosses. The sword mark was used on small size articles that did not have sufficient weight or space to stamp a standard mark, an assay office mark, and a date letter. Beginning in 1953, the small item sword mark was stamped with the metal fineness of 835 on the blade. The sword on your item is from the Assay Office of the city of Gouda, dates 1953 to Date

Regards,

Oel.

Hi, dear Oel!

I know at present there are two Assai offices in Dutch:
one in the city of Coude (http://www.hallmarking.com/hallmarking" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;),
other in the city of Joure (since 2002, http://www.ewnederland.nl" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).
I was absolute sure bouts companies use same marks, besides head Minevra’s head with the letter of the city and convention mark… Why this is Coude and not Joure???

Hi dear Elena,

Joure started in 2002 and the Joure sword is in an oval shield, as Gouda used the sword mark, as of 1953 to date, without an oval shield. As a matter of fact you can see if a silver object is assayed in Gouda or has been assayed in Joure .

Regards,

Oel
