Hip Flask of unknown origin

Post by tharg2007 »

I have a hip flask of unknown origin, time, maker, basically I know nothing about it and Im trying to find out more. The first mark is a shield with a large 'S' and an 'm' in the middle. The second mark is a shield with '.92' in it which I am sure is the decimal standard mark for solid silver, this would make it either US, Irish, Danish or Dutch. The third mark is a shield with what appears to be a tower or a fist on top of 8 crossed arrows. Im thinking it might be Danish as there are several S M makers for Denmark.
The flask itself is quite plain with rounded corners and no remarkable features.

Any more info or confirmation on what I have surmised so far would be great and much appreciated.

Here is a photo of the item

sorry in advance for not having a photo of the entire object and if it needs deleting then I will repost on Thursday with 2 images (that's when I get to see it again)

Hello.

The 92 refers to the percentage of tin. Your hip flask is pewter.
The crossed arrows mark indicates that it was made in Sheffield England.
Don't know the manufacturer, but it would date to the 20th century.
