Some notes on the above silversmiths.
William Fitzgerald: Registered at Dublin under the Statute 23 & 24 George III c.23 (Ireland 1783) in 1800, address entered as 15, Patrick Street. He was known to be in Mary Street in 1794. Known as William Fitzgerald & Son 1800-1824.
Robert O'Shaughnessy: Jeweller, watch & clockmaker. Known to be working 1820-1846. A Robert O'Shaughnessy from Limerick registered at Dublin in 1802, perhaps father?
John Purcell: Watch & clockmaker & silversmith. Working in Patrick Street in 1820, moved to Henry Street 1824-1846. Married June 1820 to Eliza Kennedy.
Samuel Purdon: Manuufacturing jeweller & silversmith. Also noted at 3, Charlotte Quay (1800-1846). Married Joanna Lannen on 13th February 1811, they had four daughters. Samuel Purdon died in March 1849.
William Ward: Working at Bal's Bridge 1798-1810. He registered at Dublin in 1798.
Thomas Welsh (or Walsh): Also noted as working at 6, Charlotte Quay (1790-1846). Registered at Dublin in 1806. Known as Thomas Welsh & Co., 1, Patrick Street in 1846.

Henry & Coghlan's Directory of 1867 lists two silversmiths in Limerick:
Henry Sterling, 115, George Street, Limerick.
Richard Wallace, 129, George Street, Limerick.
Richard Wallace is most likely the R. Wallace who in partnership with H. Smith registered at the Dublin Assay Office in 1830 (See Jackson p.704 & 727). The business of Richard Wallace continued until the 1930's.
Henry Sterling, was there ever a finer name for a silversmith!

Mr. Henry Smith, of Limerick, jeweller, returning to that city from Tralee, by steamer, via Tarbert, lost a box, containing 560l., besides a number of watches and jewellery. A large reward is offered for the recovery of the property.
