CHICAGO
The M. S. Benedict Manufacturing Company has removed from 70 State street to 109 and 111 Wabash avenue, where it occupies the entire fourth floor, 50 by 160 feet. The rapid increase of its business in Chicago and the West forced the necessity for larger quarters, but the approach of the holiday season with its unprecedented rush of orders prevented for the time being little more than a consideration of removal. In its new premises the company has made some radical departures from old style appointments. The office furnishings and fixtures are of mahogany, plain but rich, and the floors are covered with soft velvet carpets. Mr. Benedict informs me that the line of spring novelties is almost complete and that it will contain some and exclusive patterns.

Nuggets Mysteriously Disappearing
SYRACUSE, N. Y., July 31.-A nugget of gold, valued at $25, was stolen from the plating room of M. S. Benedict Silver Manufacturing Company's works at East Syracuse on Monday afternoon. The metal is kept in the plating room, and is doled out to the platers as they require it. Each night, an accounting is made before the employes in the department go home. The nugget lost on Monday was missed before the time for accounting; the loss was reported to the foreman and he had the entire plating force locked in the room, and a systematic search made, but without success. This is the second time within a few months that gold has been missed from the factory. Last January a nugget valued at $75 was stolen, and no trace of it obtained.

F. A. Weatherley, familiarly known as ''Abe" to all the jewelry, novelty, and department store trade of the middle west, has just rounded out 30 years of employment with the Benedict Mfg. Co. of East Syracuse, N. Y. "Abe" has been a hollow-ware authority for many years and is leading all Benedict salesmen in the sale of Benedict's four new matched hollow-ware lines. No wonder Mrs. Weatherly looks pleased and happy. But why the worried look on ‘'Abe's'' face? He ought to be smiling, too.
