WELSH & BLACHFORD

171, Yonge Street, Toronto

Welsh & Blachford, 171 Yonge St., who last week made an assignment to Campbell & May, one of the causes of which is alleged to have been losses from theft by dishonest employes, wish to state in fairness to their inside workman and employes whom they have always found trustworthy, that their losses referred to were through dishonest agents, and that F. H. Haywood, who has been lately employed in that capacity as collector, has proved himself perfectly reliable. The assets of the firm are placed nominally at $14,000, while the liabilities are about $10,000.

CAPITOL JEWELERY STORES

Montreal

An Associated Press dispatch from Montreal Aug. 6 told of a daring robbery perpetrated in that city, which resulted in a loss to a concern known as the Capitol Jewelry stores of about $30,000. According to the dispatch, three men and a woman walked into the jewelry establishment at 9 o’clock last Saturday morning and held up the two clerks who. were in charge. Quickly gathering up the diamonds and other valuable pieces in the stock, the quartet escaped. Although the robbery was immediately reported, the police at the time of the dispatch were unable to make any arrests.
