Mistery with butter knife

Hello,

I have this butter knife that confuses me.
The blade has the Birmingham marks. It is made by Joseph Taylor and it have the year mark for 1814.
The handle has the Sheffield halmarks. It is made by John Biggin, and it has the year mark for 1929.
I would be interested to know if the new ferrule on my knife was the result of repairing the handle or if the handle was it self new with the ferrule. Did the blade and the handle started life together in 1814, or is the handle from around 1924?
Maby the style of the handle can give a clue ?
Thanks for your time !
Alain

Hi Alain,

I think the 1929 ferrule has been used to secure the 1814 handle.
The handle and blade look a good match for the 1814 period.
