Help ID 50s Modernist Sterling signed "R"? Brooch

Post by leslieglasser »

I've looked through the forums and searched the net but can't find this signature anywhere. This piece is about 2 1/2 inches long and signed on the back Sterling with what looks like a script "R". I'm wondering if anyone recognizes the artist? The woman who gave it to me lived in New York and was pretty fashionable.

Thanks again! Leslie

Hello.
Can't see the mark very well in your picture, so this is just a possibility.
One of my references attributes the R mark in the picture below to Florence Resnikoff.
She also marked pieces with a script Resnikoff.
Believe she is still working.

R brooch

The R is not a Florence Resnikoff signature. She signed her pieces only in two ways according to two prior conversation which I had with her. She signed Resnikoff in script with an engraving tool and FR, which can be seen in part illustrated on #75 in Structure and ornament
