3-6-1815. Wanted an apprentice to a silversmith. Apply George Murray, In the Side, Foot of Dean Street.

One final advertisment for George Murray appeared in the Newcastle Courant on 17th February 1816.

To Silversmiths. George Murray having resolved to decline business, on account of ill health, hereby gives notice to the trade, that he means to dispose of all his tools and fixtures, as soon as possible, by private contract. Any of the trade wishing to extend, or one going to commence business, would find here a favourable opportunity. GM having for a number of years carried on a considerable manufacturing business, of course well known to most dealers in the northern counties, would on behalf of a successor, solicit all his customers for a continuance of their favours to him.

The last mention by the same newspaper was reported on the 16th November 1816.

Died. On Monday last, at Dundee, Mr George Murray, late of this town, silversmith.

These are the quarterly figures, taken from the ledgers of the Newcastle Assay Office, of the submissions of silver by George Murray.

Amounts shown are in ounces.

The figures show how his business was at its peak when he was struck down by ill-health.
