Hi,

A listing of silversmiths and allied trades taken from list of European inhabitants living in India in 1818.

........Middleton........................Hamilton & Co.
David Mills..............................Watchmaker (Arrived 1793)
Joseph Rondo.............................................(Arrived 1788)

Bombay

Francis R. Hereford.................Watchmaker

Prince of Wales Island
William Jamison.....................Watchmaker & Jeweller
Thomas Scully.......................Silversmith

The above contains some good information, including the confirmed dates of arrival of some.

It is interesting to note that the firm of Middleton & Co may have had their origins with Hamiltons.

It is also interesting that the European community on Prince of Wales Island, who numbered only thirty-five, could support two people in the trade.
