Bookmarks - any help with makers appreciated

Post by bookworm »

Can anyone help identify the makers on these two bookmarks?

The horseshoe and thistle one inscribed "dinna forget" is made by J.C&S;
I think it is Birmingham (anchor); and the date letter is m which is either 1912 or 1886 (I suspect 1912 but if anyone knows for sure I'd be grateful!). I wondered if it was J Cooke and Sons???

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

I read that as Birmingham 1911.

Agree with your attribution, J. Cook & Sons Ltd, Livery Street, Birmingham.

Very many thanks for your help - and the interesting posts/replies on the rest of the forum. I'm not sure of the forum etiquette: do I post thanks as a personal e-mail or as a reply??

A public reply is good, larger mark images are also a plus.
Thanks, Tom
