Odd Scoop

This peculiar scoop looks like it was made around 1800, and it has been suggested that it is Spanish. It is about 20cm long, has a round bowl which extends into the hollow handle.
I'd be interested to hear exactly what it is for and if anyone recognises the mark.

Hello Miles,

Is the handle stopped up at the end or is it an open tube?

Paul.

Hi Paul,

It is stopped up. The second photo is the end of the tube.

Hi Miles,
Any chance that it unscrews? Looks like a slight space between the pairs of double reeding.

Regards, Tom

I don't believe it does. It's not mine so I can't check for a while.

Hello Miles,

If there was a “way out” through the tube I was going to suggest that it was for transferring a liquid or powder via the tube into a bottle or small vessels of some kind. Intriguing!
