Hi Stecci,

Don't believe those are Dutch hallmarks for silver. Are you sure the Salière is made from silver? Perhaps it's silver plated.

Hi,

In an earlier post I have noticed identical marks "2 over T" and "3? over H" on a purse by Gebr. Roelfsema who worked in Winseum (Groningen) between 1864-1910.

At a quick glance it looks like four marks on your picture but I think that there are at least two more. less obvious, to the left. Could you please check your salt cellar for more marks and post some new photos. The marks can be well hidden!

According Netherlands'Responsibility marks from 1797: Gebroeders Roelfsema '3 over GR ' and 'R over 6' and 'R6.'
In my book no mention about '2 over T'
If the piece does not show any valid silver assay mark ... hhmmm.

The anchor on your piece looks more as a ‘flower’ to me. It is lacking the cross bar under the eye of the anchor.

All of the hallmarks look like pseudo hallmarks to me. The T2 is a attempt to imitate the yearletter 1649 from Groningen and the H3 is a similar attempt to imitate 1662. A makersmark from Groningen with an anchor is not known. The four dots in a row are also mentioned in a booklet on false hallmarks by K A Citroen
The style of the salt also does not match the 17th century. It is a pitty there are no genuine hallmarks but probably is was made between 1880 and 1910. Could still be Dutch.
Have it tested to judge the silver fineness.
