Hello
Johanna Gehrlein, in her famous researched book of »Rosen-Bestecke« (Rose pattern cutlery), has researched in at least 100 Archives of Cutlery Production Company and that of some wholesalers to.
Her report in her description, of this kind of server’s, is always to be a
»cheese pick«. This information she took out of company’s printed information’s (advertising, press release, catalogue, tariffs, etc.) — including
Christoph Widmann, Pforzheim, and pattern range:
Model 1900 — popularly so called
»Hildesheimer Rose« (»Rose of Hildesheim«).
Christoph Widmann pattern range model
1900 is especially described in her recently published book — because in past decennia »Rose of Hildesheim« is by time and while
synonym for this kind of antique cutlery.
Its worth to buy and study these more then 1,000 illustrations — including all actually found
maker’s mark of these company. Especially there are also presented and described bad worn marks — medicine contra collector’s headache!
Next to contributions of »buckler« I’ve learned again by this publication: »Be keen on every detail of punch or pattern«
Thank you Johanna Gehrlein, thank you »buckler« for yours contributed collector’s lessons.
If you don’t know German, it doesn’t matter so much — from prehistory on we were be able to interpret picture.
