Dutch ashtray from Amsterdam 1947

Post by silverport »

Hello Mrs. Elena

First mark = maker’s mark = I don’t know; you must wait for a sounded answer.

Second mark = mark for Second »zilver« (Dutch word for silver) alloy = 835; in use from 1814-1 Sept. 1953.

Third mark = Assay Office mark »A« in the helmet = Amsterdam

Fourth mark = Date mark = M = 1947

But please remember, I don’t know all — I answer almost question by my brain; because my archive is somewhere.

Kind regards silverport

P.S. The »Z« in the fineness marks, their signification is »zilver« (Dutch word for silver) alloy.

Hello Elena

I haven’t a list of Dutch Assay Offices; and actually where to get one, I don’t know — except of to buy a book, like e.g. of the author »Voet«. Maybe you’ve contact to Russian who are living in The Netherlands?

As I remember by my brain, stands »F« for Leeuwarden, and »M« for Schoonhoven.

To be a »new be« is hard — some times very hard, if collected items are from foreign origin; or have passed in their history several and different assay systems.

Shortly after I’ve got my first internet connection, I’ve got by incidence knowledge of existence of »925-1000«. But because I’m far away of my archive and collection, I’ve start on 30 June 2009 to contribute almost out of my brain, and a few documents I’ve taken with me in my exile.

During my life itself, and especially in the time to be a collector, always I’ve practised my own research. So, I never have needed there fore a Nanny. In a bibliotheca a assistance, full of “knowledge” claimed, where I’ve to look, for a question I never have had — so I had only in lunchtime the possibility for my real search. Before »internet« I’ve practised my search in several and different Archives, Patent-Offices, bibliotheca, and I’ve buy many books.

By time and while I’ve got now knowledge of the broad range of sources, which is in »925-1000« include.

For you I’ve imagines me, that I’m just now become a silver novice — and questions born by answered questions of already answered questions.

First, this morning I’ve looked in »World Marks«:

There in one of the top positions is presented »Dutch Hallmarks« - with a “click” I’ve got the following:

http://www.925-1000.com/Fnetherlands_Date_Code.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

On the bottom, below left side is integrated a link to: http://www.zilverkeuren.nl/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Here, just I’ve learned, it’s possible to get knowledge of identity of the makers from your ashtrays.

Please, have comprehension there fore, that the search for this is now up to you. Learning by doing!

The same possibility is given by: »Resources« >>> »Silver Marks Forum« >>> »Search the Silver Forums« >>> »Search for keywords« (type in keywords, be hold your question in mind) >>> click on the »Search« button.

You would get then maybe so many topics presented, that you’ve to make the search by use of other »keyword’s«.

Some times then, you’ve to read hours — these hours aren’t lost hours!

And then you would get the experience, to could maybe contribute already now, by mentioning to a question, that that question was already in »925-1000« topic ... answered in full.

Kind regards silverport

Hi Again,

The makers’ mark a double Z with a ax in the middle for Zaanlandse Zilversmed. n.v / b.v in the cities of Haarlem and Amsterdam 1920/1990.
Little correction, the office identification letter Q is for Roosendaal.

Regards,

Oel
