Hi friends!
I have this large soup spoon that looks and feels like coin silver. However, there is some serious wear to the finish and looks as though it is plated over a silver metal. I would like to know if this is coin silver and if the mteal underneath is also silver. Lastly, any info regarding Meadows & Co.?
Thanks so much!

Re: Meadows & Co Coin Silver?
Hello.
Meadows & Company, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (1831 - 1870).
All I can tell you is they did produce coin silver spoons.
Pat.

Re: Meadows & Co Coin Silver?
John and Charles Meadows are listed in the 1855 Philadelphia directory as silversmiths with Meadows & Co at 106 Chestnut. John is listed in the 1880 Philadelphia census as a silver plater. John and Charles were both born in England around 1830. It seems like a fair guess that this is the concern that manufactured your spoon which at least in the image does look like silverplate.
