Hi,
I was told by a jeweler that this was probably a coin or token holder but every coin holder I found looked slightly different. This one does not have a side cut out to easily slide a coin out, it has to line up in the narrow opening which seems a little difficult to me. Can anyone confirm if it is a coin holder?
Also, I think I have the date of 1904 right. But I can't figure out the maker. Its slightly worn but it appears to be LIE & C or maybe LLE & C. Thanks for any help you can give me. I will try and post a pix of front, back and hallmark.

Birmingham 1904 Coin Holder?
Re: Birmingham 1904 Coin Holder?
I just looked at my notes and I meant to type 1902. I couldn't decide if the letter was e or c, but I'm pretty sure its a "c"
Re: Birmingham 1904 Coin Holder?
Hi and welcome to the forum.
I.J.E & C for; I J Evans & Co known vesta makers, date letter c for 1902. I am not sure about its function but could it be a vesta case/match-box and could you light your matches on the rough surface of the middle circle?
Regards,
Oel
