Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

For starters, have a read of this page: http://www.925-1000.com/Gorham_Date_Code.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Does this mean my piece is Gorham and dates from the last quarter of the 19th century?

What does the D 951 indicate? A product number? The piece is engraved with 3 initials on the neck. K H P. I think. There is also the number 52 etched on the top and bottom of the piece, so I am assuming that they match up.

My receipt I got when I purchased this piece in 1992 along with another overlay piece said English silver overlay. Also the anchor symbol on the Birmingham silver confused me.

Thanks so much for your help,

Hi ~ Gorham started using the "D" prefix production code in 1898, on silver-mounted and silver deposit glassware, with their archives indicating little use after 1907.

Thank you, Cheryl

So I can place my piece somewhere between 1898 and 1907.

I'm not too much on silver overlay, but an exception would have to be made for your item. The green glass sets it off beautifully.

Thank you.

I also have a clear glass overlay piece and you are right, the dark green glass really does set off the silver.
