Open Salt with a Really Tough Mark!

Post by kelmel »

Hi All,

This is a really tough one! I just bought this open salt. It footed and hand hammered. The only mark that I can find on it is on the base. It is very small! I appears to be to figures standing side by side on top of wavy lines. They are inside of an oval.

As this piece is not marked with, 925, Sterling, or any United Kingdom hallmarks I am assuming it is European. Please forgive me if this assumption is incorrect.

I am looking to the much more learned people here at this forum for any clues as to the origin of this charming little salt. As always, thank you in advance for your help!

Hard to tell from the photo, but I suspect your mark is one of these Danish silverplate designation marks.
