I have a napkin ring which was possibly bought in 1917. The marks are SML LTD, Anchor, Lion, and a date letter of capital N in a cartouche with an indentation at the bottom which, from the charts, appears to be for 1785. I am certain this cannot be correct as I don't think companies put LTD after their initials until the early 20th century. However, I cannot find the date letters after 1924, which shouldn't matter as I think the ring was puchased as a christening present for someone who is 96 next month.
