HI ALL

I am trying to figure out this pair of candlesticks. they appear to be hallmarked G A, Sheffield rose, London Britannia & the letter o for 1988.

So is it London or Sheffield? who is the maker? it seems the maker was copying a much earlier style (perhaps Indian?)

THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Hi Niceguy,

Can't help with the maker, but they are made of Britannia standard silver, rather than Sterling, that is to say 958/1000 rather than 925/1000. They were assayed at Sheffield.

Trev.

Thank you very much Trev.

In the pocket edition of Jackson's Hallmarks this Britannia mark is only mentioned in the London section & that caused my confusion.
