Hi all. I was hoping I could get some help with this mark on a 9k gold thimble...I think it might be American Steiff Company because of the 14 with a circle around it (date mark?), but not sure. Thanks in advance!

Hi,
It appears that none of the marks are hallmarks to indicate gold. Could it be perhaps gold-plated?
Oel.

It's a late 19th century 14 karat gold-filled thimble by H. Muhr's Sons of Philadelphia - they did make solid gold thimbles, but those were marked with a crown containing a small 'M' and if they did bear a fineness mark, it was usually stamped on the inside; the '6' would be the size of the thimble.
