Had tried to identify what I believe is a Samuel Johnson makers mark (NY active 1780-1796) on the particular style of the S and N. Would that be correct? Your thoughts and opinions are always appreciated.
Just as a side note, I do enjoy the particular style of engraving monograms from this period. They have a particular style and charm of their own. Like a swirling wind that pulls the leaves from the ground along with it.
During a recent conversation, have it on good authority that because of the drop or a lack there of, this spoon is dating closer to 1825 but final conformation is yet to be made.
