Solid Silver Cross

Post by suzzybabe »

HI

This Solid Silver Cross was recognised as being from maker Joseph Balme et Fils.

If anyone can provide me with any further information on when made or how many made, it would be much appreciated.

The unusual 3 ring mark of a hallmark is still a mystery to me.

thanks for any help

Do you know if this hallmark with the rings was made for export to Morocco or for France only or where I may get some info on it as it is nothing like I have seen for French hallmarks.

Your help is much appreciated as when I bought this cross I had no idea it was almost antique

Thanks

I can't help you on the marks on the ring.
In most countries there is no mark for export of silverware. In some countries there is only a mark for taxes repayed with export.
Many countries have a mark for imported silverware. I don't now if that is the case for Marocco. Maybe you can look it up for e.g. in Tardy's book of hallmarks.
