What type of Tiffany bowl is this?

Post by joey32b »

I know this is Tiffany c.1906-1907, but I don't know what type of bowl it is. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Only a guess but maybe a Potpourri Bowl and possibly missing a lid from the center ?

At first was thinking a caviar dish, without the glass insert, but then I thought about the flower motif around the bowl, and so a Pot Pourri bowl makes more sense, although a Pot Pourri bowl seems to be rare.

If it is large, could it be a "centerpiece?" How large is the bowl? If it is small, could it be a "compote bowl" for jelly and jam? This might make sense with the flower motif, kind of a strawberry compote dish? I had a set of sterling silver compote dishes, they were small (maybe 2" in diameter) and they were on a pedestal and each one had a flower motif on them similar to this bowl.

This is a difficult question, but the bowl is quite beautiful and rare as well.
