Hi Please can anyone identify the makers mark please and also tell me why 1973 is in a kind of horseshoe shape. Thanks to your site I already know this was made in Dublin in 1973, but would like to know the maker and reason for the date in the horseshoe shape. Please I have no idea about silver at all.
Thanks

The horseshoe shape around 1973 is called the Gleninsheen Collar and was a special mark to commemorate Ireland's entry into the European Economic Community.
Not sure on the maker.

It's as unusual as the queen's head on British pieces of 1953 & 1977, in that it was a one year mark.
The maker someone on this forum should be able to tell you, is it LS1? I cannot quite make it out, so others may have a problem as well. I don't have anything on modern marks.

Hi Richard
I am not sure but think it looks like LS.1, its clearer in the photos than looking at witht the naked eye. It was at my grandmothers house and we know nothing about it or silver, my mother asked me to find out about it, we will not sell it but are just curious.
