Silver test

Good day
I have this silver coin that are believed to be fake. There are a lot of fake ones out there. The coin people say its made by the Chinese and does not look like silver, but white metal.
Its size and weight is correct. It test for 90% silver using using Schwerters solution (compared it to color of another 90% coin). It melts through ice like 90% silver should and also gets cold really fast. Also has a sharp ring to it like silver coins its size. And lastly it looks and smells like silver.
Are there a fake silver metal out there with these characteristics Or do the coin nerds don't know much about silver?

Dankie
Jannie

If you have appropriately filed a corner of the coin and the reagent has turned red, then your coin is solid silver.
All the other things you said are not conclusive.

Hi,
It`s a fake.
Among other things (poor detail) In ``1906`` digit ``6`` is much shorter than the rest.

Yes it is a fake coin made out of the same amount of silver as the real ones. The 6 is miss stroked. This coin also have other differences in design from the real ones.

Specific gravity cannot be faked, though.Modern Chinese fakes cast in pot metal cannot match exact dimension. If weight and diameter are correct then it is thicker to compensate specific gravity of silver. But those fakes are generally lighter than 27g.
